"blessed is the season that engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love" -hamilton wright mabie

The past week or two has been filled with holiday cheer and i LOVE it!

there have been holiday parties and fluffy white snow and funny hats and xmas trees in apartment windows, the smell of burning menorah candles, latkes, and ugly-ass holiday sweaters. it's prittay prittay fantastic.

over here at apartment 105/102 had a peppermint swirl pre-bar which was very successful...and by successful it was pretty much was we do every weekend with the people we usually do it with, but this time with a fancy name and peppermint schnapps and candy canes. yum!

i may have made cookies for the event and for the night before when we had our secret santa with the girls (score on the a heartbreaking work of staggering genius from buttons!) and very few may have been eaten. my sugar cookies got compared to the consistency of a steak, which worried me only a little. They looked lovely, by my standards at least. my gingersnaps turned out d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s.
these are what my cookies were supposed to look like according to the magazine:

i guess i felt the need to bake as i got swept up in the holiday cheer and in wanting that cozy winter feeling with the snow outside. also, on the bus ride home from chicago, i bought like 4 home design and entertainment (think martha stewart) mags and they got me all riled up to be "creative" in the home. my favorite one was blueprint. check it out at now i have all these grand ambitions about getting my craft on, but sometimes i think the holiday recipes and DIYs make you feel like you can do anything...and then crush your dreams when you make meat-consistency cookies and have glitter all over your bedroom floor and not on the little art project you had goin' on for grandma. bah humbug! if only i was martha...

but still. love it.

like you can take cheap ornaments and tie them with sheer ribbon into a's so ladylike looking. delightful.
next on the holiday to do list is:
-egg nogg
-paper snowflakes
-watching "a christmas story" & "nightmare before christmas"
-listening to faux-smooth jams holiday music, like the kind they play in starbucks
-put together a bangin' new year's outfit without buying anything new.

mmm. so cozy.
and to all a good night.
